A squirrel has been caught on camera cheekily stealing a chocolate bar from a convenience store in Canada.

The owner of the shop, in Toronto, said for a nearly two weeks squirrels have repeatedly visited his shop to thieve chocolate bars from the bottom shelf.

Paul Kim, from Luke’s Grocery and Snack Bar, finally caught one the squirrels cautiously entering the shop before dashing away when it gets the goods.

He set up security cameras and his daughter, Cindy, posted two videos online of the pesky animals in the act.

“I always see them sneaking outside the door, looking in my store, and even right at me,” Mr Kim told the Toronto Star.

He said squirrels come into his store every year when he is forced to leave the door open because of hot temperatures, but last year he noticed a spike in visitors.

Mr Kim’s daughter, Cindy, said they believe the squirrels have robbed around 48 bars from the store in the last few months, the news website reported.

Cindy shared the videos online and chronicled the owners’ battle with the animals on Reddit.

She later said the family are appealing for advice and help to stop the thefts happening.
