The body of footballer Emiliano Sala has arrived back in his native Argentina ahead of a funeral service tomorrow.

A van carrying the body was slowly escorted out of the Buenos Aires airport by police vehicle. A wake, and the burial of the footballer, will take place in his home town on Saturday.

The body is being driven to Progreso, around 538km (334 miles) northwest of the capital Buenos Aires.

Sala, 28, had been flying from his previous club Nantes in western France to Wales on January 21 to join up with Cardiff City when the single-engined Piper Malibu aircraft disappeared over the English Channel.

David Ibbotson, who piloted the plane carrying Emiliano Sala that crashed into the English Channel, is still missing.

The planes' wreckage was found on February 3 following a privately-funded underwater search. His body was recovered three days later.

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock and chief executive Ken Choo are among those who will attend the funeral.
