The body of missing schoolgirl Ursula Keogh has been found in a river, police confirmed.

The 11-year-old from Halifax, West Yorkshire, was found in the Hebble Brook at Paris Gates in the town on Monday.

She was last seen dressed in her school uniform at 3.30pm on the same day.

West Yorkshire police said that her death is not thought to be suspicious but officers are working to establish the full circumstances.

The force said the body had been formally identified on Tuesday.

It added that Ursula’s grieving family “are being supported by specialist officers and have requested for privacy at this extremely difficult time."

A spokesman for the 11-year-old's school, The Lightcliffe Academy, said that it was looking to “support students and the whole academy community with this heartbreaking loss.

They continued: "Our thoughts and prayers are with Ursula's family and friends and at this very difficult time."
