Dog-lovers will soon be able to race alongside their pet in the first mud obstacle race for canines and humans.

The Muddy Dog Challenge will be coming to six locations across the UK in 2018. Organised by Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, it is Britain's first obstacle run that owners can compete in with four-legged friend.

Participants can choose from two distances on the “dog-friendly” course: 2.5km and 5km. Owners are advised to be “relatively fit” to take on the challenge.

Humans and dogs can enter together for £45, or individuals can enter for £35. Humans must be 18 or over to take part, though there are no age limits for dogs.

The Muddy Dog Challenge will take place in Windsor, Nottingham, Manchester, Peterborough, Cardiff and Tunbridge Wells on various dates between May and September next year.

Money raised from sponsorship goes towards the day-to-day running of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.
