Quiz fans were today treated with a glimpse of the new Chaser ahead of their debut on the ITV daytime show.
A short Instagram video released by The Chase revealed the silhouette of the new quizzer - with host Bradley Walsh calling the star “a mystery brainbox from somewhere on the planet”.
Alongside the video, the caption reads: “Everyone has been asking about it, and today you got a glimpse of what is to come with a look at the new Chaser’s silhouette.”
There are currently five Chasers - Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett, Shaun ‘Dark Destroyer’ Wallace, Anne ‘The Governess’ Hegerty, Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan, and Paul ‘Sinnerman’ Sinha.
It has long been speculated that former contestant Darragh Ennis has bagged the job.
Back in 2017, Irish-born Ennis - and Oxford University researcher - stunned audiences with his knowledge when he battled it out against Sinha.
He took home £9,000 for his team - making him one of the most memorable contestants in The Chase in history.
Back in April, he suggested he was the new Chaser - though ITV has not confirmed this.
He wrote: “I’m really excited to be the 6th chaser on #TheChase . I've been working hard on this for a while now and can't wait for my episodes to air. Well the ones I win anyway.”
Sinha also appeared to confirm the news after he referred to Darragh as “the best player” in the show’s history.
Fans reacted online today.
“This is so exciting,” one wrote. “I really can’t wait to see who it is!”.
“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it’s going to be that chap Darragh. It even looks like him,” another suggested.
The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 5pm while Beat the Chasers airs at 9pm this week.
