Seven thrill seekers have been taken to hospital after getting stuck on a fairground ride.

Four crews from Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service went to Grand Parade in Skegness, on the Lincolnshire coast, to rescue 22 passengers who were stranded on the ride, which swings a carriage of people around 360 degrees.

A spokesman for East Midlands Ambulance Service said: "In total seven people were taken to Boston Pilgrim Hospital with various injuries."

The passengers on the ride were a mixture of adults and children. According to BBC News, one woman suffered serious head injuries.

Firefighters from Skegness, Spilsby and Wainfleet used a hydraulic platform along with "manpower and a rope" to rescue the riders one by one, a fire service spokesman said.

He added that he did not know how long the group had been stuck on the ride.
