Reverend Michael Curry sermon: US Bishop is hailed 'unexpected star' of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal wedding after rousing speech

American preacher Reverend Michael Curry was hailed as the "unexpected star" of the Royal wedding after delivering a highly energetic speech.

Reverend Curry, the current presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church, gave a rousing speech to guests at St George's Chapel on Saturday, leaving some of the congregation looking baffled.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appeared to hold back laughter as Rev Curry wildly gesticulated, praising the high heavens and at one point quoted civil rights leader Martin Luther King.

The pastor's preachings were a hit with the online community, with Brits far and wide praising his rousing delivery.

Spectator editor Fraser Nelson wrote: "If Pippa was the unexpected star of Kate’s wedding, Michael Curry is the star of this one. Wonderful, wonderful sermon."

BBC Radio 2 star Jeremy Vine wrote: "The preacher is doing 50 in a 30 zone and it's brilliant."

Former Labour leader Ed Miliband added: "Rev Michael Curry could almost make me a believer."

Piers Morgan hailed the sermon as both "historic" and "brilliant".

Ian Dunt said: "There is an American man properly losing his s*** about THE POWER OF LOVE..."

Radio star Danny Baker took a slightly different tack, comparing the performance to that of a reality show contestant, writing: "This preacher bloke started great but he's now got two X's from the judges and living on borrowed time."

Meanwhile a parody Twitter account for the Queen simply wrote: "Get out of my castle."

The crowd roared as Harry and Meghan emerged from St. George's Chapel and kissed at the top of the steps.

The couple, now the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, will travel through Windsor in the Ascot Landau carriage before looping back to Windsor Castle for their reception.

Tens of thousands of people came to Windsor in hopes of catching a glimpse of the couple.
