Murders: 10,000 calls to police

12 April 2012

Detectives investigating the murders of five Ipswich prostitutes said they have received more than 10,000 calls offering information after making public appeals last week.

Detective Chief Superintendent Stewart Gull said police had received more than 1,500 calls in the last 24 hours.

Police on Saturday night spoke to more than 400 motorists and pedestrians in Ipswich's red light area in an effort to build up pictures of the women's final days.

Detectives also want to find the dead women's clothing and Mr Gull said the force had received nearly 200 calls from people giving information about discarded clothing.

Police have also printed 10,000 personal safety leaflets which officers are handing out in Ipswich town centre.
