Man held after bodies found in home

12 April 2012

A man has been arrested after two bodies were discovered in a house.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police said the couple, believed to be in their late 50s or early 60s, were found at a Liverpool property after a call from a member of the public.

He added that a 35-year-old man was arrested at the scene and has been taken to a police station for questioning.

The scene, on Redington Road, Woolton, has been cordoned off and the police are conducting house to house inquiries.

Forensic officers have been called to the house, which was believed to have been the scene of a domestic incident.

A spokesman for the force said post-mortem examinations will be carried out to establish the cause of death.

Richie Lister, who lives in an adjoining street, said he was best friends with the couple - whom he declined to name.

But Mr Lister said: "They were our best friends, we are too upset to say anything, we can't believe it.

"We have only just heard and are shocked. We don't want to say anything at the moment about who they are.

"We are too upset."
