Ed Miliband's Labour party is two points ahead of the Tories according to a new poll

Labour continues to lead in the opinion polls, despite the Conservatives closing the gap, according to a new survey.

The ComRes poll for The Independent on Sunday and Sunday Mirror puts Labour on 40%, unchanged from last month and two points ahead of the Tories who are up two on 38%.

The Liberal Democrats are up one point on 11%.

ComRes interviewed 2,028 GB adults online on August 17 and 18.
