Henry Bolton's girlfriend Jo Marney confronted over branding Grenfell 'nest of illegal immigrants' in car crash This Morning interview

Henry Bolton and his 25-year-old model girlfriend Jo Marney were confronted live on This Morning over her racist comments about Grenfell and Meghan Markle in a car-crash TV interview.

The on-air grilling came after Ms Marney branded the tragedy-hit west London tower block as a “nest of illegal immigrants” and said Prince Harry’s fiancé would “taint” the Royal Family.

Presenter Philip Schofield accused Mr Bolton, 54, of attempting to “qualify” his girlfriend’s “outrageous” remarks as he read out the comments she made including branding black people “ugly”.

Ms Marney explained that she “meant what she said” in the context of her views on illegal immigration, but admitted the language she used was “not good at all” when quizzed by Holly Willoughby.

She said: “The language I used was not good, not good at all. I did not mean to cause offence. But I think, in a wider broader context of the things I said, these are things that we need to be discussing.

“It was a shocking thing to say. I didn’t mean to cause offence. But I meant what I said; I think there is an issue with illegal immigration in this country. The language I used was not good.”

Commenting on his girlfriend’s Grenfell remarks, Mr Bolton said: “The Home Office has offered a year’s amnesty for illegal immigrants who were in that tower and survived…. Jo has used emotive language but actually we shouldn’t allow that to take us away from the problem.”

The heated television interview came as Mr Bolton today resigned from Ukip after being ousted as leader by the party's members.

Mr Bolton was also read a furious letter from his current wife Tatiana Smurova on the show. She condemned him for abandoning their two young children so he could start a relationship with Ms Marney over Christmas.

In the message, she said: ''The past two months have been horrendous… he has given countless interviews proclaiming his love for his lover while telling me he wanted us to have a second chance.”

She added: “I said I would back him when he stood for Ukip leader....Now me and his family have been abandoned.

“He has not seen his children for two months. I believe nothing can be built on the lies and unhappiness of other people.”
