Dua Lipa has spoken out about enjoying a “private” relationship with boyfriend Anwar Hadid - suggesting she keeps their love out of the limelight to avoid "other people’s opinions.”

The singer, who has been dating the 21-year-old younger brother of supermodel sisters Bella and Gigi since mid 2019, said the couple only shared parts of their relationship online.

Speaking to British Vogue, Lipa, 25, said: “We have all these incredible memories and experiences, and if there’s something that we want to share together, then ok that’s fun.

"But at the same time, we’re quite private - we’ll only show you as much as we want you to see. It’s a little bit of give and take, trying to find the right balance of being so excited and being in love, and wanting to share that with the people around me, but at the same time not wanting to put too much out there.”

Lipa, who previously dated chef Isaac Carew, added: “ I want to be able to just be happy in this relationship without having other people’s opinions.”

The star, who sported a series of cropped hairstyles from her editorial with the fashion magazine, also spoke about her “normal” home life.

“The people I surround myself with have known me for the longest time. My job doesn’t define my circle, and that makes a world of difference.”

Lipa was born in London to Albanian parents. She moved back to Kosovo with her family aged 11. There, she attended the Mileniumi i Trete school in Pristina until she was 15, before moving back to London to pursue music.

She said she was troubled by people who were anti-immigration

“People don’t leave their home country unless they have to a lot of the time,” she said.

“To save their families, to try and get a better life. People want to be where their family is, where their home is, where they speak the language that is native to them, where they have their own culture.”

The February 2021 issue of British Vogue is available via digital download and on newsstands Friday 8 January.
