A pub in Kent is offering what is believed to be the UK's cheapest Sunday roast.

The Britannia in Margate is offering the roast with all the trimmings for £1, slashed from its usual price of £7.50.

An advert for the offer reads: “The Landlord has taken leave of his senses”.

The pub is offering either a turkey or beef roast with meat supplied by the local butcher for £1 when customers spend £3 at the bar.

In a recent Facebook post the landlord, Paul Rollins, said the afternoon on March 10 is already fully booked.

But he told The Sun that if it goes well he would not rule out continuing the offer, which he started to promote the pub and butcher.

“We will do it the next few weeks and see how we go with it,” he said.

“If we are getting people interested, why not keep it going.

“The phone has been ringing and ringing and ringing.”

A study in 2017 showed the average price for pub roast dinners in Britain fell between £15 and £20.
