A central London Tube station was evacuated after a man was hit by a train this afternoon.

The man was struck after falling from a Jubilee line platform at Bond Street at about 3.20pm.

He was treated on the platform by London Ambulance Service before being taken to hospital with head injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening.

The incident reportedly sparked scenes of panic as worried commuters fled the station during an emergency evacuation.

Passengers said they sprinted out of the station as police, firefighters and paramedics arrived.

One tweeted: "Madness get to the jubilee platform at Bond Street hear some bang and everyone runs."

"Everybody running out of Bond Street Tube station and now they evacuating the station," said another.

The Jubilee line was suspended between Waterloo and Finchley Road before reopning with severe delays.

A British Transport Police spokeswoman said the incident was not suspicious.
