Train services to Stansted Airport may be delayed or cancelled this evening after a police incident in Cambridgeshire brought services to a halt.

Due to the emergency services dealing with the incident at Shelford all lines between Cambridge and the Essex airport were blocked.

Train services running through Shelford may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 mins or revised, with disruption expected until at least 8pm tonight.

A statement on Abellio Greater Anglia's website said passengers travelling through London could use their tickets on alternative routes.

The statement reads: "Great Northern are conveying passengers between London Kings Cross and Cambridge in both directions until further notice. Arrangements have been made for Abellio Greater Anglia rail tickets to be accepted for these journeys.

"Underground services are conveying passengers between London Liverpool Street and London Kings Cross in both directions until further notice. Arrangements have been made for Abellio Greater Anglia rail tickets to be accepted for these journeys."
