The UK’s energy regulator has proposed electricity and gas bill discounts for millions of vulnerable Brits to help soften the impact of the cost-of-living crisis.

The boss of Ofgem Jonathan Brearley said he has been talking with ministers about offering cheaper “social tariffs” to people on low incomes.
