Phone giant Orange today offered to refund a teenager’s £1,500 mobile bill which was racked up following a violent holiday mugging.

Jack Malone, 18, of Enfield, was badly beaten after chasing the thieves in Barcelona. They made dozens of international calls on his iPhone.

Orange, which had only agreed to refund half the cost, will cancel all the debt, after the Standard reported the full details this week. Orange said: “As soon as we were made aware, we agreed to waive charges.”
