Festival season is getting into full swing now with the likes of Wireless and Lovebox taking place in the next few weeks.

For once it looks like you can leave your wellies behind for this year’s festivals but you are going to want to make room on your smartphone for the apps to get you through all the summer events.

Best for battery:

Battery Doctor Pro

Preserving your battery at a festival may be one of the trickiest things to pull off, aside from the endurance needed to go three days without a shower.

The Battery Doctor app gets you in training before you go away. Build up a health battery life with its tips for maintenance and monitor how much those apps are draining your phone so you can stay connected at all times.

Best for finding things:

Find My Friends

Let’s face it, you will lose your friends in the festival grounds. But. With Find My Friends, you should be able to easily connect up with your crew so you don’t spend the weekend alone.

Tent Finder

If you only download one app this festival season, make it Tent Finder. Mark where you pitch your tent using GPS using the app, and then its saved forever on your phone map.

With a handy compass, you’ll be able to find your spot even in the dark, and the app doesn’t need a phone signal to work.

Best for connections

Viber

If you're attending an international festival then Viber is a must download. The app connects over 900 million people worldwide and features such as group chats and video calling will come in handy during events.

Things like Viber Communities, with bespoke fan groups, are perfect for festival season too as you can connect to fans across the world who love the same indie underground band as you do.

And, it has great stickers.

Best for Weather:

Met Office

When it comes to the UK weather, the best app to trust is the Met Office. Get up to date and accurate forecasts for the next hour up to the next seven days so you can play for all eventualities.

The app even includes pollen forecasts because there’s nothing worse than a pollen attack when you’re in a field for the next three days.

Best for tickets:

Dice

There’s one single very important reason to use Dice: no paper tickets. As the app is completely mobile, you don’t need to print your ticket or worry about losing it as it is stored in the app.

And, if you can’t make it to a sold-out event, you can sell your ticket back to Dice who then makes it available to a waiting list of fans who weren’t fast enough in the first place.

Songkick

Before you get to the festival, you need some tickets. This is where Songkick comes in really handy. Simply download the app, click the artists you’re most interested in hearing about and receive notifications when they announce a tour date or a festival show.

With six million concerts and festivals listed, you’re sure to find something you want to see.

Best for photos:

Huji

Make your festival snaps pop with the Huji app. It gives images the retro, grainy feel like a disposable camera would back in 1998 and includes the likes of Selena Gomez amongst its fans.

The app is free but you can pay £0.99 to be able to access the old-school camera filters without having to take images through the tiny viewfinder.

Best for help:

First Aid by British Red Cross

Things can go wrong at festivals so it helps to be prepared in the case of any incidents. The First Aid app from the British Red Cross provides details and tips on how to deal with emergencies, and no internet connection is needed.

Best for insurance:

Brolly

Buying insurance can often feel like one of the most annoying things to spend money on, but you will appreciate it if the worst happens.

According to research by Protect Your Bubble, more than 10 million people in the UK attended a music festival last year, carrying around £593 worth of tech each.

Insure your gadgets using Brolly’s handy app and feel safe in the knowledge your tech is protected whilst you dance it out.
