Apple has been forced to pull its latest update for the new iOS 8 operating system an hour after the launch following a number of technical errors.

The phone giant released the new operating system for iPhones and iPads this afternoon.

But users downloading it found their phone signal disappeared while others said the Touch ID technology, allowing people to lock the phone with their fingerprints, did not work.

Apple said: “We have received reports of an issue with the iOS 8.0.1 update. We are actively investigating these reports and will provide information as quickly as we can. In the meantime we have pulled back the iOS 8.0.1 update."

iPhone users took to Twitter to complain over the mishap.

LieShia Ong wrote: “Probably should’ve waited to update. My phone decides to black out randomly now.”

Nick Albenga posted: “Do NOT updated to iOS 8.0.1. It will create more problems than [sic] you have already.”

The release date of iOS 8 had already been postponed due to several problems with the technology. Just under half of all Apple devised are already running the kit, which was released on September 17.

The errors follow reports iPhone 6 Plus users were finding their new phones bending inside their pockets.
