Whispers

Curiously enough, One Nation is also an anagram of “No Etonian”.

Former Labour MP Parmjit Dhanda, right, is being urged to return to Parliament, although busy working for a union and a housing association. Ups and downs

Going places: shadow heath secretary Andy Burnham setting out his plans to oppose government NHS reforms.

Out of sorts: former transport secretary Justine Greening after the Government performs a major U-turn over the awarding of the West Coast mainline rail franchise.

quote of the day

‘We need reform’

Shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper sets out her plans for a new Police Standards Authority to replace the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
