The Oldie's oldie: 93-year-old wins magazine's artist award

It was Dartmouth House Revisited for Richard Ingrams last night when he announced the winner of the Oldie British Artists Award at the English Speaking Union in Charles Street. The house was once the home of Ingrams’s great-grandfather, Lord Revelstoke.

The prize went to former Daily Mirror columnist Donald Zec, 93, for a portrait of his grandfather.“I took up painting when grieving for my wife, who died five years ago,” said Zec, biographer of the Queen Mother and Sophia Loren. “I’d like to thank my cardiologist, my opthamolgist and my urologist, who have all had a hand in my artistic career.”
