Two weeks ago news broke that, fresh from playing Sleeping Beauty in Maleficent, Elle Fanning would star as Mary Shelley in A Storm in the Stars, about the author of Frankenstein. Now we hear that Sophie Turner, best known as Game of Thrones’s Sansa Stark, will also corset up to play the novelist in a rival movie, Mary Shelley’s Monster.

But it’s not just the Gothic pile-up that’s raising eyebrows — industry insiders are said to be amazed anyone sane would greenlight the Monster script.

“It’s breathtakingly awful,” our movie mole tells us. “It reads like amateur Twilight fan-fiction.”

If so, the film’s backers might be onto something — Fifty Shades of Grey hasn’t done too badly.
