Milliner Stephen Jones married his long-term partner Craig West during Fashion Week but the happy couple knew guests had other places to be.
“It was on the Monday,” he told The Londoner, “the worst time. During the reception, people were asking me to make the speeches early because they had to get to the Erdem show.”
Jones was speaking at Banqueting House last night where he was being honoured by the Champagne Bureau, which celebrates the joie de vivre shown by one winner a year. But he has not always felt so wanted. “I remember at the launch of the London Versace store photographers were shouting, ‘Over here!’ I thought, ‘I’ve made it, they want my picture.’ And then I realised Joan Collins was behind me. It was one of the greatest comeuppances of my life.”
