Creek knows how Holmes did it - but he's not telling

25 March 2013

The mystery of how Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock Holmes survived his fall in the last episode of the last series of Sherlock — which we will have to wait until next year to discover — could be solved by fellow TV sleuth Jonathan Creek, no less.

Or rather by Alan Davies, the man who plays the magician who uses his expertise to solve seemingly impossible crimes.

Davies, who reprises the role of Creek when the BBC1 drama returns for a special this Easter, tells me that work on his own show has taught him how it was done — but he’s saying nothing.

“I know how he got away with it but I’m not telling you,” he tells me.

“We did a similar thing in an episode of Jonathan Creek when someone jumped off a roof at a party — that’s all I’m saying.”
