Henry Blofeld is absent from the BBC Test Match Special commentary box for the fourth Ashes Test starting in Durham today. He is in Edinburgh, along with former TMS producer Peter Baxter, for their two-man festival Fringe show Blofeld & Baxter.
“It’s just not cricket — essentially, it’s simply two old farts chatting,” Blowers tells me. Last night it was his Italian fiancée Valeria’s birthday. It will be marriage number three for both of them when they wed later this year.
