Austerity rules at Bilderberg

Lots of sunshine for protesters outside the secretive Bilderberg conference, held at the Grove in Watford, who had said they wanted to express their grievances “by hula-hooping in the sunshine and dancing barefoot in the grass — except where cows have been”.

Inside it was a more austere affair. The silver was kept in the drawers as guests, including the Prime Minister and Henry Kissinger, had buffet lunches.

But the real sign of global economic depression was the goodie bag they were given as they departed. Gone were the heavy picture books and gifts. This year it was just an A5 Moleskine notebook with “Bilderberg 2013” discreetly embossed on it. Empty, of course — no content ever comes out of Bilderberg.
