Westfield stabbing: Man knifed in front of horrified shoppers at White City centre

A man has been stabbed by two attackers in front of horrified shoppers at Westfield in White City this afternoon.

Police were called to the west London shopping centre after reports of a man being stabbed at 2pm.

Witnesses reported two men fleeing the scene after the attack.

A Met Police spokesman said: "Officers from London Ambulance Service attended and discovered a man aged in his 20s suffering stab injuries.

"We await information on his condition."

Two men were arrested at the scene and remain in custody.

The Air Ambulance was seen flying above the shopping centre.

One of the knifemen reportedly said, "we poked him up good", after the attack.

Witness Alessandro Mascellino told the Standard: "I saw commotion, many policemen running, and a few paramedics as well.

"A security guard told me the altercation happened between two members of the public, and one just pulled out a knife.

"It was quite tense. No one knew what was going on, but as police shut down sections of the mall, people started asking more and more questions.

"My friends work in a jewellery shop inside Westfield and they are all quite nervous."

Sections of Westfield remain cordoned off

Sections of the shopping centre in Shepherd's Bush remain cordoned off while police investigate the incident.

Officers retain an open mind as to the motive but the incident is not believed to be terror related.

A spokeswoman for the shopping centre said: "Westfield can confirm there has been an incident and is assisting the police.

"The centre is open with a small area cordoned off."
