This video reveals the size of the eye-popping bus queues at Victoria station this morning.

Office workers bracing themselves for a nightmare commute thanks to the Tube strike started arriving at the heaving central London terminus early in the morning.

By 8am the lines contained hundreds of people and snaked to the end of Terminus Place and around into Buckingham Palace Road.

Horrified commuters took to social media to share their experiences.

"I honestly can't believe that bus queue in Victoria," tweeted Lo (@Lokui_). "I'm not sure I would even queue that long to get into heaven. The insanity of our time."

This video, captured just before 10am, shows the queues for the 38 and 73 stretching beyond the bus stop, to the end of Terminus Place and down the side of a pub.

Passengers arriving from the train station who were hoping to get to the West End for work, tourism or other transport connections were in visible despair as they joined the back of the growing line.
