Prince Harry and his star girlfriend Meghan Markle were pictured together for the first time as they enjoyed a night at a West End show.

The couple – who have only recently gone public with their relationship – were seen walking hand in hand through London’s busy theatreland on Wednesday night.

Harry, 32, and Suits actress Ms Markle went to see hit play The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time at the Gielgud Theatre near Piccadilly Circus.

The first picture of the couple together in public – printed in the Sun newspaper on Thursday - show the pair wearing woolly hats and winter coats as Harry points to something.

The official Twitter account for the stage show, which is running in London until June, posted a message on Thursday confirming the royal prince and his girlfriend were in the audience.

“We were delighted to welcome HRH Prince Harry to last night’s performance at The Gielgud Theatre in London’s West End,” the tweet read.

Passers-by were left stunned as the couple, who have been together for five months, strolled past, the Sun reported.

There had been reports American Ms Markle, 35, was in London after the couple were spotted buying a Christmas tree together in Battersea Park.

She is currently having a break from filming legal drama Suits and is reported to be spending some of the time in his cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace.
