A cyclist has died after he was hit by a lorry as he pushed his bike on a road in west London.
The man, believed aged in his 80s, was struck during the morning rush hour in Southall on Thursday.
Medics fought to save him but he was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash in South Road.
Police were called to reports of collision between a lorry and a pedestrian near to the junction with St Joseph’s Drive shortly before 9am.
He was pushing his bicycle at the time of the crash, police confirmed.
A vigil for the victim has been planned by road safety campaign group March for a Safe Uxbridge Road. It will take place on Friday.
Those who wish to take part are invited to meet at Ealing Town Hall from 7pm before cycling to the scene of the crash for the vigil around half an hour later.
The man’s next of kin have been informed, police said.
The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their investigations.
There have been no arrests and officers from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We sent a single responder in a car, two ambulance crews, our hazardous area response team and an incident response officer to the scene, with our first crew arriving in three minutes. London’s Air Ambulance were also dispatched.
"Sadly, despite extensive resuscitation efforts by our medics, a man died at the scene."
