This cute sextet will star in the new revival of the hit musical Miss Saigon.

Four boys from London — five-year-olds William Dao and Munck Bataikhan and four-year-olds Zen Fordyce and James Quek — will be joined by Maria Tangonan, six, from Surrey, and Connor Mason, five, in the cast when the show returns to the West End in May, to mark its 25th anniversary. They had to pass a series of tests to prove their concentration to take turns in the role of Tam, the son of Saigon bar girl Kim and GI Chris in the story set against the fall of Saigon in the Vietnam War.

Producer Sir Cameron Mackintosh said it was a challenge to find enough children for the role: “They have to not get worried at appearing in front of thousands of people with guns going off. They have got to be unfazed by what happens on stage. Some kids take to it; others get shy or forget what to do.”

A long run is expected at the Prince Edward Theatre, with £8 million worth of tickets already sold.
