Sainsbury's attempted to flog Christmas-themed chocolate on the hottest day of the year.

A supermarket branch in south London has been selling the Toblerone decorated with Christmas trees and snowflakes as temperatures across the capital soared above 30 degrees.

A shopper noticed the strange seasonal display at the store in East Dulwich.

He tweeted the supermarket giant saying: "Yes, on the hottest day of the year, Sainsbury's have got Christmas stock in."

A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said, “We’re looking into how this stock got onto our shelves in the middle of Summer.

"We appreciate it’s snow joke and will find out from our supplier whether they Noel more.”
