Guests at a west London Novotel might be better off sticking to porridge if this unusual room service menu is anything to go by.

The order form, snapped by a guest at the Hammersmith branch of the French chain, offers customers the choice of a full English breakfast for £27.50 or a “continanal” dish for £13.50.

Since being shared on Facebook, the eyebrow-raising typo has racked up hundreds of “likes” – although some have been more concerned by the cost of the food than the spelling.

“Ordered some room service and joked with waiter about ‘continanal’ being on the in-room menu,” the guest who photographed the menu wrote.

“English was not the waiter's first language. He was confused. I'm concerned he now thinks I have propositioned him.”

Novotel’s parent group Accor did not respond to the Standard’s requests for comment.
