On July 4, dubbed Super Saturday, Londoners headed out to enjoy a drink and meal out — or a much-needed haircut — for the first time in more than three months.

Photographs showed crowded scenes in pedestrianised Soho streets, and al-fresco wining and dining on pavements from Fulham to Enfield.

Now one of London’s largest ride-hailing apps, Uber rival Bolt, has revealed which areas of the capital saw the most calls for its cars over the "Super Weekend".

The higher the volume of requests for Bolts, Ubers or black cabs, the busier the area was likely to have been at the weekend.

“It’s clear that Londoners were looking forward to regaining a sense of normalcy over the weekend, proven by the spikes in rides we saw.”

Overall, a Bolt spokesperson told the Standard the app saw a 30 per cent uplift in rides on the previous weekend.

Most Bolts were called from SE1 - South Bank, Bankside, Bermondsey and Waterloo. Combined, the area saw a huge 84 per cent increase on the previous weekend in the number of cars requested.

N1, the region spanning Angel Islington and trendy destinations Dalston and Haggerston, saw the next highest volume of calls for Bolts with an 81 per cent increase on the same period a week before.

In a surprising entry, Croydon saw the third largest increase in requests, up 59 per cent over Saturday and Sunday.

The app reported that the WC1R postcode, which takes in traditional City worker haunts off Holborn and Chancery Lane, remained quiet. It had one of the lowest rates of calls for cars of any London region as City workers completed any weekend hours from home.

Bolt, which originated in Estonia, was the first ride-hailing app to attempt to challenge Uber’s dominance of the sector in London. It has since been followed by rivals Kapten and Ola, and all now compete on prices and deals for Londoners’ fares.

Bolt UK country manager Sam Raciti said: “It’s clear that Londoners were looking forward to regaining a sense of normalcy over the weekend, proven by the spikes in rides we saw.”
