Commuters reacted with delight after rail staff blamed a station’s power outage on Pokemon Go.

An amusing sign apologising for the power failure was spotted at Dalston Kingsland station in east London yesterday.

Accompanied by a scribbled drawing of the game’s most famous character, the notice, said: “We apologise for yesterday’s power failure this was due to someone capturing the station Pikachu.”

A photograph of the sign was posted on Reddit captioned: "Pokemon Go is destroying the London transport system."

A rail passenger tweeted: "Great sign at Dalston Kingsland station this morning #pokemongo #pokemongouk."

Commuters have been enjoying the new Pokémon GO phone game, after pictures emerged of the digital creatures on Tube tracks and in the middle of busy roads.

The new game, which was officially released in the UK on Thursday, tasks players with capturing the fictional creatures using their smartphones by walking around their local area.

The app has already proved popular across the capital with Pokemon characters popping up at several London landmarks including Buckingham Palace, London Zoo, Downing Street, the London Eye, and the Southbank.
