A pensioner cyclist is still fighting for his life more than two weeks after he was hit by a car in Regent Street, police said.

Officers investigating the crash launched a fresh appeal for information after the crash, at around 6.20pm on February 25.

The driver stopped at the scene, north of Oxford Circus near Little Portland Street, but was not arrested.

The cyclist, 69, remains in a critical condition in a central London hospital as enquiries continue.

Detective Sergeant Jeff Edwards said: "I am grateful to a number of people who stopped at the scene to assist the casualty that night.

"This stretch of road was fairly busy with commuters, and I would urge anyone who may have seen any of the parties in the moments leading up to the collision, or the collision itself, to contact police.

"I also wish to trace any person who may have moved or had any contact with the pedal cycle."

Anyone with information is asked to call 020 8941 9011, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
