Nick Clegg joins in for ladies day at Stock Exchange

More than 50 high-profile businesswomen, including Alek Wek, Kelly Hoppen and Karren Brady, rang the bell to begin trading at the London Stock Exchange today.

They were joined by Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg to mark International Women’s Day. It came as ministers announced that men in Britain accused of raping or assaulting women abroad could face trial in the UK.

Meanwhile TV presenter June Sarpong said it was “shocking” how few women have run for Mayor and London would benefit with a woman at the helm. She said: “I would love to see a woman as Mayor.” This year there are two female candidates: independent Siobhan Benita and the Greens’ Jenny Jones.
