A man has died following a flat fire in Kentish Town, the London Fire Brigade (LFB) has said.

Firefighters were called at 6.56am on Thursday to reports that a fire had engulfed most of the ground and first floor of a mid-terraced house convert in Woodyard Close.

Although five people managed to escape the building, the LFB said a man was found on the ground floor and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The blaze was put out at 9.22am after ten fire engines and 70 firefighters from the surrounding area were called to the scene.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
