Christmas definitely isn’t cancelled at London Zoo which is appealing for support to help it recover financially from the pandemic.
The 36-acre park began welcoming back visitors in early December when the second lockdown ended.
It remains open after London’s move from Tier 2 to Tier 3, although its indoor exhibits such as the BUGS House and the Reptile House have had to shut in line with the tougher restrictions imposed on Wednesday.
All funds raised from visits will go towards conservation charity the Zoological Society London which runs London and Whipsnade zoos and cares for their 20,000 animals. Western lowland gorillas, Sumatran tigers and Humboldt penguins are among the wildlife that families can see.
A socially-distanced day at the zoo also includes a new trail which allows children to become “elves in training”.
Children will also enjoy a carousel, treats and a wave from Santa. To get the festive spirit going, tigers and meerkats have been enjoying a few early Christmas presents.
