Hammersmith fire: Dozens of firefighters tackle restaurant blaze

Dozens of firefighters were today tackling a restaurant blaze, which is causing traffic chaos in Hammersmith.

Six fire engines and 35 firefighters were called to the scene in Fulham Palace Road.

The fire broke out in the restaurant’s extraction system and quickly spread to the ground floor of the eatery and a flat, the London Fire Brigade said.

Emergency services raced to the scene of the blaze following calls from members of the public shortly after 10.30am.

Fulham Palace Road was closed this morning between Talgarth Road and Chancellor’s Road, TfL said.

Fire crews from Hammersmith, Kensington and Chelsea fire stations attended.
