Regent Street will shut down today as some of the world’s most expensive supercars rev into London.

The highly-anticipated Gumball 3000 Rally rolls into the capital on Monday afternoon, bringing with it 120 super-charged cars from the past, present and future of motoring.

Bugattis, Ferraris and futuristic concept cars will parade along the iconic shopping street before a star-studded party.

Competitors in this year’s rally – which started in Dublin on Saturday and ends in Bucharest on May 7 – include David Hasselhoff, former F1 driver David Coulthard and boxer David Haye.

The Regent Street event, from 12pm and 10pm, includes BGF1, an F1-spec custom-built car driven by an anonymous driver channelling the mystery persona of Top Gear’s The Stig.

It weighs just 640kg and can accelerate from 0-60mph in two seconds.
