Golders Green crash: Woman, 94, fighting for life after being 'trapped under minicab'

A 94-year-old woman is fighting for her life and her husband is seriously injured after a crash involving a minicab in a busy north London road.

The collision at the junction of West Heath Drive and North End Road, Golders Green, happened at about 4pm. Roads in the area were shut until 7.30pm.

Police initially said the woman was in a serious condition but sadly this evening were forced to downgrade her condition to critical.

Pictures from the scene show police, paramedics and firefighters clustered around a person on a stretcher.

Witness Rosa Doherty tweeted: "Seems very serious - medics attending to the man on the ground. Police questioning driver."

Scotland Yard confirmed the driver stopped at the scene and has not been arrested.

A London Ambulance spokesman said: "We were called at 4pm today to West Heath Drive at North End Road to reports of a road traffic collision.

"We sent an ambulance crew, single responder in a car and duty officer to the scene.

"We treated a woman reported to be in her nineties for a leg injury."
