The emergency services were called to Hanger Lane Tube station in Ealing shortly after 1.40pm on Sunday to reports of a casualty on the tracks.

The person was pronounced dead at the station, which serves the Central line.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, a medic in a fast response car, an incident response officer and members of our hazardous area response team (HART). We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

“Sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.”

The Central line was temporarily closed between North Acton and Northolt as emergency services responded to the incident. It resumed service again later Sunday afternoon.
