Drivers will face rush hour delays this evening after a major road in south west London was closed by a crash.

A blue Nissan Micra flipped onto its roof after it hit the central reservation on the A3 southbound between Hook and Tolworth shortly after 3.30pm.

The driver, an elderly female, escaped with minor injuries to her hand, a Metropolitan Police Service spokesman said.

Paramedics from London Ambulance Service were called to treat the woman and London Fire Brigade were in attendance to help with the vehicle recovery.

All three lanes on the southbound carriageway were closed while emergency services clear the scene and are expected to remain shut into the evening rush hour.
