Two men have been arrested in connection with a homophobic attack on a pair of Halloween revellers in south west London.

Chef Robbie Kingsford, 21, was left badly bruised after being punched and kicked by two men wearing pink tutus in Surbiton.

His 18-year-old friend was also injured in the assault outside the YMCA in Brighton Road during the early hours of Saturday morning.

They claim their attackers hurled homophobic abuse at them shortly before beating them up.

Police revealed today they had arrested two 26-year-old men following the brutal assault, which they described as a "hate crime".

The men were held on suspicion of common assault and causing grievous bodily harm and bailed to return to a west London police station in mid-December, Scotland Yard said.

Mr Kingsford's father Brian thanked people for their support in tracing his son's attackers on a Facebook group he created in the wake of the assault.

He said: "Again today I thank you all. God bless each and everyone of you all my best wishes. Be safe".
