Radical preacher Anjem Choudary is set to be released on bail as he awaits trial accused of inviting support for Islamic State on social media.

The 48-year-old married father-of-five today pleaded not guilty at the Old Bailey alongside co-accused Mohammed Rahman, who also denied a similar charge.

Choudary, of Ilford, had been on bail since he was charged in September but was arrested and remanded in custody on November 27.

He had met an individual which he had been banned from seeing as a condition of bail.

However Mr Justice Holroyde today granted him bail again although he will have to wait for a further hearing for his £15,000 surety to be re-sworn in court.

There are 10 conditions of bail, including an electronic tag , curfew from 9pm to 7am and not to associate with named individuals.

He is also banned from travelling abroad, possessing any “internet enabling device” and not to organise any demonstration.

Choudary and Rahman, of Whitechapel, are both charged with inviting support for the banned terror group Isil, also known as Isis or Islamic State, between June 2014, and March 2015.

There will be a preparatory hearing at the Old Bailey on January 11 next year and the trial, which is expected to last three weeks, will start on the following day.
