A man is seriously injured in hospital after a shooting in Hackney last night, police said.

The 36-year-old man was shot in the leg in Southwold Road, Clapton at around 10pm, according to Met.

He was taken by paramedics to an east London hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

A Met spokesman said: "At this early stage the investigation is being led by Hackney officers.

"A crime scene has been established and Southwold Road is subject to road closures."

There have been no arrests, police said.
