Police have issued a stark warning after footage emerged of a “reckless” youth leaping in front of a moving Tube train at an east London station.

British Transport Police said officers were investigating the shocking video which shows a man leap from one platform to another over tracks as a Central line service to Ealing Broadway pulls into Stratford station.

A BTP spokesman told the Standard: “Everyday our officers face tragedy on the railway, it is impossible to understand why this man put himself in such danger.”

Transport for London bosses said such stunts “threatened the safety of the train’s driver and passengers on the train”.

The slow motion eight-second clip, posted on Instagram with the caption P.t 2 Of Jumping To Conclusions, has been viewed more than 21,000 times.

Viewers blasted the stunt.

One commented: "What an idiot!"

Another added: "This isn't even funny."

A second video posted by the same account weeks earlier shows a hooded youth leap across the tracks of another station.

He slides over the platform, narrowly avoiding a fall onto another set of tracks.

Steve Burton, Transport for London’s Director of Enforcement, said: “This behaviour is extremely reckless and will not be tolerated.

"The actions of this individual not only pose a risk to his personal safety, but also the safety of the driver and passengers.

"We are working with British Transport Police to ensure appropriate action is taken.”

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to contact BTP by sending a text to 61016.
