Sickening footage has emerged of two callous men attacking a pair of alpacas in the grounds of a nursing home.

The thugs are caught on camera hurling a large wooden bench and two plastic garden chairs at the two alpacas, named Bill and Ben, before entering the animals’ enclosure and chasing the alpacas around with one of the broken legs from the chairs.

The shocking footage captures the moment one of the alpacas is struck by a chair and a chair leg, thrown by the yobs, while the terrified animals attempt to scamper away.

The incident happened at about 10.15pm on Tuesday, in the grounds of Danesmoor Nursing Home on Helmshore Road in Haslingden, Lancashire.

Forturnately, Bill and Ben, who are brothers and have lived at the home for about 5 years since they were babies, were not seriously hurt. They were both checked by a vet and given a clean bill of health.

Lancashire Constabulary are now seeking to trace the men behind the brutal attack.

Community Beat Manager PC Claire Scott said: “This unprovoked and mindless attack on two defenceless animals is a disgrace to say the least and we will do all we can to identify these men.

“Bill and Ben are there for the elderly residents to enjoy and this sort of behaviour is simply intolerable. It beggars belief that anyone would find this amusing.

“If you know anything at all about this or recognise the men in the CCTV then please contact us.”
