A pedestrian is fighting for his life in hospital after being struck by a car in a south London high street.

Scotland Yard are appealing for witnesses to the horror crash in Clapham High Street at 4.02am on Sunday.

The victim, a man aged 26, remains in hospital in a critical condition after an air ambulance was scrambled to the scene.

The driver stopped after the collision and was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

They remain at a south London police station.

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage of this incident to contact 101 quoting CAD 1368/30JUL23.
